FORT COLLINS, Colo.— it’s rare when you come across a shy Irish-man, but that’s exactly the way to describe bright blond-haired, 20 year old double major; Chris O’Toole. His ambitions keeps him moving forward, and since he was a late sign-up for the class, he realized he must adjust quickly. Something easily done for O’Toole, since he already is taking 20 credits in both the Journalism and English departments. He is focused at all times, and takes his education very seriously, pursuing his aspirations to write fiction and adventure novels.
O’Toole was born and raised in Cherry Hills, Colorado and attended Cherry Creek High School.
Being a Creek graduate he said, “I know, lots of people hate us, but it’s a good place to go to school.”
O’Toole has a 25 year old half-sister who lives in New York and a 15 year old little sister who was adopted from a Native American tribe.
O’Toole recently left his sister and parents in Colorado to spend a summer studying a new culture for the summer in Rome, Italy where he was studying abroad.
“I did it for the experience,” he said. “I learned a little Italian, but have forgotten everything for the most part.”
O’Toole was grateful for his friends that he met on this journey, and though he is single now, he left a special lady back in the Rome.
Spending lots of his time in the mountains snowboarding, Chris says that is one thing he missed while out of Colorado. “I love going to Steamboat. It’s my favorite place to ride.” O’Toole also plays golf, allowing for his passion to be outdoors to breathe.
His writing is embedded in his outdoor activities. “I write about what I know,” he says. “I write about what I like.”
